Sweet Surprise

So, every once in a while I mention to my 5 year old friends some of the things I like to do, play with Maggie, shop, scrapbook, cook, eat! Well, I have a few kids that have May birthdays and they were discussing their birthdays on Friday in class and what kinds of treats they were planning to have. Well, one student told me that it was her Dad's birthday on Sunday and her mom was making a cheesecake. I, of course, had to let the child know that I too love cheesecake. Well, this morning the cute little princess brought me a big ol' slab of cheesecake! I would have posted a picture of the magnificant being that is cheesecake but I forgot my camera at home today. Yes, it's a sad, sad day! However, the picture taking probably wouldn't have happened as I devoured the cake as soon as the kids were out of sight! Oh calories!!! I guess I'll be running and extra half an hour tonight!

Happy Monday!

It's All Good!

With 27 more school days until summer break, I am beginning to compile my list of summer to-do's. However, I have to stop every once in a while and realize what is good.
It's so good to...
-receive a hug from a student
-find an unexpected note from my husband
-get a call or email from an old friend
-talk to my mom every day
-have lunch with friends
-enjoy a busy weekend
-enjoy a no plans weekend
-sip a beverage by the pool
-catch up with special friends
-read a good book just because
-enjoy beautiful spring weather
-have all the household chores done before Friday afternoon
-see a student finally "get it"
-have a few more weeks until summer
-have this sweet face to come home to every day...

-love the Lord and know that he has plans for me that are bigger than anything I could ever imagine.

The Best Teecher Apresheashun Ever!!!

Today we had our monthly teacher appreciation lunch and it was the Kindergarten parent's turn to host. We had some awesome foods this month as we usually do! I had an incredible cheese tortellini salad (as soon as I get that recipe, I'll share) and some yummy desserts but nothing was as incredible as PW's chocolate sheet cake! And to beat it all, one of my BFF's made my day by writing this little message on the front of the cake...

She and I have the same sense of humor when it comes to things like this...think cake wrecks! I laughed all day long and caught others laughing too!!!

A note about the monthly luncheons: if you have kids in school, consider doing this at your child's school, the teachers will love you for it! Basically, we have a couple of mom's who run the show all year. Once a month it's a different grade level's turn to host. The parents from that grade level are asked to contact the coordinator if they want to donate a dish for the luncheon and each month is a different theme. We've had soup and salad month, mexican, italian, baked potato bar, tailgate foods, etc.. The luncheons begin with the oldest grades first and work their way down to Kindergarten in the spring. It's an awesome day that I try not to miss!!!

Hope you laughed at our Cake Wreck!!! Happy Wednesday friends!

My Fortune Says...

So, life has been getting in the way of my blog time! I took my computer home last night (yep, it finally got fixed yesterday) in hopes of blogging before I headed off to my women's league meeting but that didn't happen. Instead I spent time cleaning and getting ready to leave for my fun meeting. When I arrived at the most beautifully decorated house I have ever stepped foot in, I saw her...Valentina the fortune teller. I was chomping at the bit to talk to her, as was everyone else in the room! I sat down after waiting in line almost an hour. She had me shuffle and cut the cards into 3 piles then pick the one that felt right. I did as told and she started laughing as she turned the cards over and immediately looked at me and said, "you must be a libra." WOW! How did she know that? I barely spoke two words to her. Well, she continued to read me like a book. She said that I am terrible at making decisions and like everything to be fair. She also said that I like everyone to be happy, even if I'm not. She then went on to say that even though my marriage hasn't been a cakewalk, we are suited for one another. Then she looked at me and said, "you have lots of pain, heartache maybe. Things haven't gone as you've planned them but you have a new plan now and it's going to work." She pointed at the next group of cards and said, "this is the card for fertility. Do you have children?" I responded no and she said, "You will, this year. I give it 4 months." I started crying, crocodile tears. I don't really believe in this stuff but it was so odd how she pinned that without me even saying anything to her other than responding yes and no to the questions she asked me. At the very end, I asked her about my dad. She said that she wasn't set up to do that type of reading tonight but she said he is around me. What a way to end a Monday and start the beginning of my week! When I got home, I told Tom about the night. He asked me what the fortune teller said about a baby, I told him the whole story and he said, "we are going to be great parents." What a way to make a girl smile!

Hope your Monday was as enlightening as mine!

WhAt CoMpuTeR PrOblEMs?

Again...Yes, again! I only thought my laptop was working fine until I got to work this morning and couldn't log in to the network. Why? My computer keyboard malfunctioned. I can only type certain letters as capitals and the E won't work at all! Try typing a few words and not including vowels because that is eventually what happened, along with m, s, d and f. None of them would work. I had our IT put a work order in for a new keyboard. It should be here in a couple of days but that doesn't solve my problems because as soon as the work order was placed, my screen went black and a message popped up saying that the memory would dump in 5, 4, 3, 2...I picked the thing up and ran to the computer lab. The IT assured me that it would be fine. I guess we shall see when it comes time for me to hunt for that certain document! You would have thought I would have learned my lesson about backing things up after my PC crashed at Christmas. I'm checking into an online server like Mozy or something. If you have any recommendations for something like that, let me know!
What can I say, it was definitely a Monday!!!

Bad Wife Day

So yesterday I was a bad wife. I came home from work with a story from our field trip (a long story that I will tell sometime, it really boiled me over), I told my husband about the story then called my mom and talked to her for about an hour then called my two BFF's and talked to them for an hour each and before I knew it, I was skipping dinner to talk to another friend. I hadn't realized until I was in the shower at 10 last night that I didn't spend any time with my husband, my dog, or myself. I was just unloading my stress on my closest friends and didn't realize that I wasn't being with family. SO, I am going straight home today after work and give my family some much needed attention! Hope your week has been much better than mine!

Lots of Thoughts

Happy Good Friday! I was lucky enough to have today off. Tom was not as lucky. His alarm woke me up this morning and I actually turned back over and went back to sleep for about 15 minutes. Maggie then started whining for her "morning pets" and Tom and I loved on her for a bit. Around 6:30 we decided to get up. I got ready and went to the grocery store and Tom left for work. I wanted to get my shopping done before the big storms rolled in. I got home and put groceries away and took a shower. Maggie is on medicine for her lick granuloma (story coming up next on this) so she has been lazy today which in turn caused me to be. Sleep is a good thing on a rainy day!

So, Maggie started licking her arm after we had her teeth cleaned in November. She licked it raw and basically wouldn't leave it alone. We took her to the vet and he recommended putting her on Prozac- my answer was NO. I'm not starting my dog on a drug like Prozac that can't be discontinued easily. We put her on an antibiotic for 6 weeks and her arm healed up. Well, she went in over spring break for her comprehensive exam and low and behold, the licking began after the bloodwork. I took her in last week to the vet and the crazy man says, "I don't typically like to medicate animals, I prefer to try other methods first." I was floored, I almost lost it on this crazy man. He tells us to walk her and that will help. So, we walk her, not healing (don't think for a minute that I thought it would.) I decided I was calling the vet back and this time, demanding medicine. I call and get medicine for my baby! Her arm is looking a bit better but she really needs another week of antibiotic in my opinion.

Next piece of information...I had a rough day yesterday. A friend of mine who I'm not really sure if she is a friend anymore since she well, it's not important, announced that she is expecting. I cried and cried and cried some more. I don't know why it's so hard for me to hear that another friend is pregnant. Maybe it's because with each day that passes, I feel that my chances to become a mom are getting slimmer and slimmer. I know that we have a plan and I'm hoping the plan works out but it's just hard waiting.

I have been lazy today but I suppose it's time to get a jump on things. I do have pizza dough rising for dinner tonight. I have a load of clothes in the wash and I'm going to do a bit of straightening up and then I'm settling in for a little movie night with the hubs. Yeah for long weekends!
