It's a Sunshine YELLOW Day!

The UPS man sadly knows me on a first name basis. Why? He has dropped by my house 6 times in the last 2 weeks. But, he is delivery the goods for the summer that keep my feet happy. I got two new pair today and they go along with the 14 other pair that I own!

My Collection

Last week's addition...the cork sole wedge

So, I have an addiction! At least it's a useful one!

Summer School Day One

Today was day one of summer school. I had 6 students total, 4 boys and 2 girls. All of the kids were very sweet and I think our time together is going to go by quickly. The half days are jam packed and the activities/curriculum is a fun, hands on approach that will be adaptable to the regular school term. I can't wait to try some of the games with my Kindergarten friends this fall. I know it's crazy for me to already be thinking about back to school this fall but I just can't help it! I LOVE my job!! If there are any of you teachers out there that read my blog, I will be happy to pass along some of the games/activities that we are using, just let me know! 1 day down, 15 to go!!! I'm sure it will fly by!

Yummy

This week has been full of good treats. My BFF and I had a pact that this summer we would experiment with baking some new things and experimenting with the old. First up, Christmas bark. This is a toffee like confection that she made for me for Christmas and ended up passing along the recipe. Well, as much as I've tried, my bark is awful so we had a little tutoring session Tuesday and I think I may have learned the trick. Yesterday, Tom and I went into Dallas so I could get a haircut and before I left, I took out a block of cream cheese. I knew I wanted to make something with it but just not sure what. Well, when we got home (6:00) I made Pioneer Woman's meatballs, creamy mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas and while dinner was cooking, I whipped up a little family favorite- cream cheese pound cake! I took half to Lisa's but since it was late and she has a little baby, she was already sleeping. I had half the cake on a pretty plate but it was too big to stick in the mailbox and I was afraid to leave it on the front porch because of the wild animals, I unwrapped it and rewrapped it and stuck it in the mailbox. I just got a text saying she was up and I told her to check her mailbox. I can't wait to hear what she thinks! So fun to do nice things for others!

Tough Decisions

I guess I should post since it's been a while but I've just had so much going on I haven't had time to do any blog reading much less posting. Well, we went in to the vet yesterday for a follow up to Maggie's xrays and her 2 week stint on an anti-inflamatory drug to see how her knee was doing. What we ended up hearing was not what I had expected or built myself up to hear. Her knee is not healing, it will not heal and she needs surgery. I'll admit I cried. I didn't want to do this but we are having the traditional surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in her right knee next Friday. This is not what I expected to do with my summer school paycheck but I guess we have no choice at this point if we ever want her to run and play again, this is what we must do. I've done a little research on it this morning and I've found good things so I'm confident that we are making the right choice. Please pray that things go well. I know that she is a dog, but she is my baby and I would do anything to make her well and happy again.
