Show Us Your Life- Wedding Party

This week we are showing off our wedding party. Tom and I were married at our church, Wilshire Baptist Church. Our minister, Pastor Mark Wingfield was really special to us because we were his first wedding and Tom was his first baptism. One day, I hope for Pastor Wingfield to participate in our baby's dedication! Anyway, I had a very unconventional wedding party as I opted to not have equal numbers of bridesmaids and groomsmen. I wanted to include all of my friends from different times in my life. I had my best childhood friend- Wendy, my college friends- Katie and Heather, my grown up friend- Amanda and my lifelong friends, my Aunt Jan (who was also my matron of honor) and her children, Chandler and Halee. I can't forget my neice Makayla as the best little flower girl! We had a great time together and it was a dream for me to have all of my friends together finally!
My bridesmaids all wore dresses of their choice in pink and we all carried hand tied bouquets of pink roses!

Tom's groomsmen were his best college friends, Mike, Glenn and Tim! They were great and made all of us girls laugh the whole night!
My favorite part of my wedding was that I had my favorite uncle walk me down the aisle. I thought of my daddy the entire walk and I carried a red rose in his honor and lit a candle at the alter in his memory. Uncle Hal did a great job of escorting me and I'm so glad that I had him by my side!

Okay so actually I had the entire Horton family in my wedding! I love them all! Chandler and Halee are like my little sisters, Aunt Jan is the perfect aunt and best friend and well, there are no words to describe how wonderful my Uncle Hal is!
And finally, the happy couple!

I love the fact that you can see my pink boots in this shot!

Well, come back next week for pictures and details on the reception!
Actually I will probably post those Tuesday since we will be in Hawaii next Friday!

Show Us Your Life- Wedding Dress

March, 12, 2005

My wedding dress was an Oleg Cassini, who also designed clothes for Jackie O. I saw the dress in a bridal magazine a few months before I got engaged and luckily, the weekend after I got engaged, mom and I went shopping and found it. Unfortunately, not on sale but it was well worth it. It was the first one that I tried on and I just knew it was the one. Mom did convince me to try on a couple more but we both fell in love with the first one!

Twenty three layers of tulle create the skirt with a cathedral length train. The sleevless top is adorned with caviar beading and Swarovski crystals. The dress was extremely heavy but fit perfectly with just a slight nip and tuck in the top to keep it from falling off of me!

I haven't had the dress heirloomed because I learned from a coworker what she did with her dress and I plan to do the same one day with my daughter which is every year on my daughter's birthday, I will put her in my wedding gown and take a picture with the hopes that one day, she will wear my gown on her wedding day.

And yes, I did wear my pink Uggs for my entire ceremony and reception! The congregation never knew until we were pronounced man and wife and we were walking down the aisle and I lifted my skirt up to walk down the steps. I did get lots of compliments about how unique and original it was. I got the biggest compliment from a friend's daughter who said she would be doing the same thing at her wedding one day!!!

Wonderful Wednesday on Thursday!

Happy Birthday to this big guy!

We celebrated Tom's birthday on Wednesday night with his parents and my step dad. Mom is still in South Carolina taking care of her sister who has cancer. Please keep my aunt in your prayers as well as mom who is taking on more stress that she really doesn't need. I am so proud of my mom and I miss her alot. I'm used to talking to her everyday- no matter what, we chat even if it's just for a minute. She is really my best friend and I have no idea what I would do without her. I hate that I can't be with her in South Carolina or simply take this burden from her. I'm praying that everything goes well.

Anyhow, Tom got lots of nice gifts for his big day! He got lots of things for our yard and patio, a new grill cover, patio lights, outdoor fan and speakers. We are ready to have a pool party for sure now!!! I picked him up a new shirt and watch for our Hawaii trip in a couple weeks! We had Larry fajitas (for those of you who aren't familiar with these, they are my step dad's famous recipe that we love. We NEVER eat fajitas out anymore cause these are too fabulous!) I also stopped off and picked up rice, beans, chips and salsa from On The Border for our little party. Yummy, yum!
In preparation for this little party, Kara and I went to get pedicures and relax a bit. It was quite fun and pretty entertaining especially when I opted to get a little crazy and go with the zebra stripes on my pink toes!
I also fell off the diet bandwagon this week when Kara convinced me that I needed a stop at Cold Stone! I actually traded in my usual cake batter ice cream choice for the limited time Chocolate Jello pudding ice cream. I added some peanut butter as a mix in because really, if you are gonna splurge you might as well make it worth your while, right? My suggestion, skip the pudding ice cream- it's a bit too creamy- unless you like that of course!

Tonight is Girl's Night Out! Kara and I are heading to the harbor for the Concert on the Lake. We are unfortunately missing our pal Janelle. Come Home Soon my friend!!!

Deleting Cookies But Not Cinnabon!

Well, the weekend was busy yet again. Friday I went to my mom's for some shopping and lunch. We were looking for some pillows for my new sofa and chair and ended up in the mall. We couldn't pass up the yummy goodness of the cinnabon! My mom always gets one when she hits the mall so we stopped. She ordered her usual caramel pecanabon. It looked so good so I told mom that I would just have a bite of hers (remember, I'm working on project swimsuit in preparation for my trip to Hawaii in 3 weeks). Mom didn't like that idea so she turned to the lady and said, "make that 2". Yikes, I knew I was in for it. In my head I was thinking I'll just leave it on the kitchen counter and it will be gone before I know it. Well, it called my name way too loud and I snuck a bite or 10 when I got home then ate the rest for breakfast on Saturday morning! I'm still feeling that on my thighs. grrr!!!!
So, in hopes of sticking to the diet, I bought lots of healthy foods at the grocery store. I have lots of fruits and veggies in the fridge and I'm really going to stick to it for the next 3 weeks, except for Tom's birthday cake :) yummy!
Anyway, my computer has been acting crazy lately and I put in a call to the service provider. I was told to delete cookies! I laughed when the lady told me this and she was nice that I had to inform her of my diet and she laughed too!!!
I suppose I'm on my way out the door to the backyard for a little water aerobics. Hopefully 3 weeks of swimming will help me out a bit. Wish me luck!

MckLinky Blog- Favorite Photo

I have lots of favorite photos but these are a few from my wedding...A picture with my Kindergarten friends...I can't believe these kids are going to be in the fifth grade this fall!

This is a picture of my grandmother and myself. I love how she is looking at me! I know she is so proud of me and I love her so very much!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my favorite photos.

Is My Husband Going to Kill Me???

Oh Jeez, I hope not! However, I can't stop my obsession with online shopping! It's something that happens to me in the summer, Christmas holiday, spring break...ok, anytime I'm out of school and sitting near a laptop (hello, it's always right beside me) I get the urge to shop! I did score some awfully cute shoes a few weeks ago, can I get a cheer for Yellow Box!?!?!?! If you haven't ever worn a pair of yellow box shoes, you must go to the nearest shoe store and try these puppies on! It's seriously like walking on a marshmallow. I am now the proud owner of 10 pairs- that's right my friends, 10 pair! Now, they aren't what I would refer to as a bargain but when you are on your feet all day, they are a blessing in disguise. Well, shoes aren't my only weakness, so is fun jewelry. I don't normally get to wear my fun stuff too much because I try to be more on the conservative side for work but now that summer is in full swing, I'm busting out with it. Be on the lookout for new pictures soon.
Now, I normally wouldn't be so worried with my recent spending however, we just went Saturday and bought an entire new living room. We got a leather sofa, pushback recliner (where I plan to spend the rest of my summer) and a new entertainment unit. We are on the lookout for a new television since our current one will be just a bit too small for the new unit. I also jumped the ship and bought a rug from Ballard Design and it just so happens that I got an email about 20% off their website so I think I may order a smaller rug that coordinates with the larger one to place at the patio door to catch all of Maggie's messes when she comes in on rainy days.
AHHHHH!!! If you don't hear from me in a few days, you know what happened...

Kendall's Wedding and the Great Kindergarten Conference

My Kindergarten teammates and myself traveled to Austin for the I Teach K conference last Wednesday. It was tons of fun and we got lots of great information. I have already started making some of the neat things for my classroom that a couple of the presenters had to show. I wasn't planning to work on school things this soon in the summer but since I have the time, might as well give it a go!

We spent Wednesday through Friday in Austin and then I took a flight to Hobbs for Kendall's wedding. Tom's neice, Kendall got married on Saturday, June 27. She had a beautiful and extremely fun wedding. It was basically a big party however, after my eventful night on Thursday, partying was the last thing on my mind! I did have fun but I was ready to get home to my bed by Sunday.

Where I Live Friday...okay so I'm a week behind...Master Bedroom

I'm a week behind but I wanted to show off my bedroom even though I still have some painting to do! I have changed our colors in our bedroom twice since we moved in 3 years ago. I now LOVE my colors...I should, I picked them and they are two of my 3 favorites! When we moved in our house, my husband convinced me that we needed a king size bed so on our 1 year anniversary which happens to be the same weekend we closed and moved into our house, we bought our new bed. I have to admit, I do love all the room and it leaves more room for my babies to sleep with us! As you can see, they have no problem making it their very own!

We recently hung curtains in our bedroom. I wanted something dramatic but also something that would block the morning sun. Most of you who know me are aware that I rarely sleep past 6am whether it's a holiday, weekend, summer break or a school morning but I like it to be dark since Tom likes to sleep late and I like to nap during the day! So, we found a great deal on these Eclipse blackout curtains and they have definitely helped with the heat in the room and they do block out tons of light. I do like to open the curtains in the evenings so I can see what's happening in the backyard and make sure my friends aren't going for a swim!

We also have his and her dressers and that's about it in our bedroom. It's really simple and I like it that way. Thanks for dropping by.
